‘Ned’ - half human half horse - has a Brief (bedsit) Encounter with a tiger. Set amongst layers of films, stop motion animation and installations, The Regretrospective looks at the implications of regret, our capacity for illusion, delusion and an exploration of the idiot beast within.
The Regretrospective is an ambitious, provocative and challenging trip-hop dance-theatre installation that touches on flamenco. It’s an ever-evolving multimedia ethereal and darkly surreal Shamanic clowning journey for the creatures of the night.
"An occult atmosphere with a hint of humour ... an intense and convincing performance" Martin Hargreaves, Dance Theatre Journal
Juliet Aster began her artistic career as a painter, developing an array of characters, visual imagery and design she uses in her performance work. Her love of dance, music and rhythm led her to study Flamenco to professional level, touring with Nuevo Flamenco in the 90s before embarking on combining visual art with dance.
Juliet created her first piece ‘Maverick Matador who only had a Pin’ in 2003. Her work is set to layers of sound, multi tracking drum and bass, jazz, trip hop and samples. Using stopmotion animation and live action she creates ethereal time based allegories for audiences to unravel and puzzle over.
