(No) Living Room ... Imagine awakening within a dream… the virtual has become real.
AlKamie Theatre ... Quirky physical theatre, visual technological magic and a wish to see differently.
In a surreal performance set entirely in virtual reality, alKamie playfully empty the complexities of contemporary life into their unique cinematic quirky physical theatre. On-stage reality is twisted into sublime visual poetry, as a character is catapulted through bizarre dream-like worlds. In escaping media-touted economic gloom and with apathy and despair haunting her, she tumbles from her Living Room. However, in dream worlds we often find things other than those we expect... and in the end, a choice. What Living Room will be left for her?
AlKamie immerses the live performer in the virtual space of projected 3D digital models. Brian Curson, a Rambert School trained dancer as well as computer programmer, ‘dances’ the animation in real time to create an intimate duet with Robyn Stuart, the onstage performer. Together they twist the seeming reality into sublime visual metaphors. Reality becomes infused with the virtual and the boundaries between them are lost.
