A stunning new male duet choreographed by Belgian Filip Van Huffel. Two male dancers challenge their physicality while they wrestle to communicate in a bold, bright fighting arena.

La Lutte (French for The Wrestle) is set in a theatrical environment, with floodlights reminiscent of a boxing arena or sport stadium; an intense space for two men, wrestling with themselves, one another and the world around them. A physical and emotionally charged work that uses Filip’s signature complex movement style layered with psychological intensity.

La Lutte is a highly physical, extreme work, where the seemingly uncontrollable limbs are constructed into a tight framework. The setting is bold and bright with aggressive, intimate, powerful, playful, and competitive movement content performed by spectacularly talented dancers Steven Martin and Matthew Slater.

Retina is an ambitious contemporary dance company artistically led by Filip Van Huffel. Working from Belgium and the UK, Retina produce dance performances of differing scales, from theatre performances to large-scale site-specific events, multi-media projects and a wide range of participatory residencies and workshops.
