Iris’s every day is a haze of grey...
Today seems just like any other morning at work for Iris. But when her glasses break in a seemingly innocent accident, she finds herself departing on a strange journey through the city she thought she knew. An optician performs an unusual examination, familiar doors open into new spaces, but where will all of this lead her?
Before her very eyes, the city is coming to life, and Iris encounters its many, varied residents as if for the first time. The oddities of her co-workers in the library, the prophetic newspaper vendor she passes every day and even the ducks in her local pond – Iris is discovering that the extraordinary surrounds her and, most surprisingly of all, lies within her.
Lecoq trained Glass Eye Theatre’s company debut, The City and Iris, revels in physical storytelling, chorus and music. Come with this international ensemble and see how the everyday becomes extraordinary when viewed from the right angle.
