Carole Jahme is BioDiverse! uses comedy, magic and audience participation to entertain on the subject of biodiversity and human evolution. Presented by Jahme, as a “humanzee”, a half-human-half-chimpanzee hybrid, unable to find a mate due to habitat loss, this show is a unique black comedy.
The audience will be encouraged to regress to their primordial origins, to get in touch with the ape inside and go wild! With theatrical trickery a gorilla and an Australopithecine will be brought to life as we ponder bio-genetic advances that really could bring our ape-man ancestors back – what might the ethical implications of this be?
The show will cover recent fossil finds, such as the Hobbit and genetics that has recently revealed Europeans are at least 4% Neanderthal. Is it possible the Yeti exists? Members of the audience will be invited to play some games and ancient traits will be highlighted as the audience are reminded of their ape ancestry.
Jahme is a comic performer and a communicator of Darwinian theory, and is also the Guardian’s evolutionary Agony Aunt.
This new show follows in the footsteps of the award winning five star comedy show Carole Jahme is Sexually Selected!, a one hour comedy show about Darwin’s theory of sexual selection, and is partnered with the Natural History Museum for International Year of Biodiversity.
