“He’s our cause. Mess him up a bit”
Six teenagers meet in a chatroom where anonymity is the first and only rule. How far will you go if you’re not face to face?
Chatroom tells the story of the complex, often disturbing, yet ultimately human, relationships of a group of teenagers who communicate with each other via Internet chat rooms. It explores the themes of suicide and depression, whilst still offering the audience surprising humour.
This play reflects EUTCo’s commitment to staging interesting and challenging new projects. As a play, Chatroom is both gritty and funny, as well as being highly contemporary. Our driving aim is to convey this youthful vibrancy, and to appeal to young audiences in the Festival Fringe.
Nic McQuillan, who plays Jim, says of the play: “Chatroom is an especially good play to perform – it’s sharp, funny and ultimately has something important to say about modern teenage life, and I can’t wait to perform it!”
