In their groundbreaking new project Root Experience play havoc with the roles of actor and spectator, and challenge the perception of theatre.

The Bulging Seahorse and Other Grey Matters unites the player and the ‘played with’, to entangle them in a shared experience of manipulated memory, and its role in the decisions we act upon.

The performance follows the experiments of the Professors, who after years of confinement are ready to put their creation to use. Their faith will be put to the ultimate test as they unravel brains and tamper memories in search of their true freedom.

Through gripping improvised performance, the Professors will lead you into an imaginary world of storytelling and mischief where nothing is forced out except what you choose to let slip.

Root Experience are a theatre ensemble committed to exploring the magnetism of society: what pulls us together and what pushes us apart. This performance is the result of a six-month research process, and follows the success of last year’s acclaimed London tour, Mirrorgame.
