is a mixed-bill programme highlighting the diversity of Momentum Dance.
An engaging and exhilarating fusion of high-energy street-dance,
beautiful lyrical contemporary and powerful physical theatre. 10… is
an adrenaline charged, highly theatrical performance showcasing Momentum
Dance’s distinct style of compelling choreography, slick musicality
and skilful, character driven dance performance.
10... features choreography
by the UK’s established and up-and-coming
choreographers - including Artistic Director Eddie Copp (dancer/choreographer
for Charleroi Dances, Lucinda Childs, Merce Cunningham and Karole Armitage),
Luke Brown (Cult, Parasite Entertainment, UK Street Dance Championship
finalist) and young up and coming choreographer Anthony Middleton.
10...
features Momentum Dance’s professional dancers performing
alongside award-winning Momentum Youth Dance Company. Momentum Dance
appear at Zoo Southside straight from their success performing at Sadler’s
Wells, London as finalists in the National Youth Dance Festival. The
2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the culmination of an exciting 10th
anniversary year for Momentum Dance, who have spent the last year touring
extensively across their home county of Yorkshire, nationally to London
and Edinburgh, and internationally with a tour of Paris.
Momentum Dance
have really developed and grown in stature and success in their ten-year
history – from humble beginnings as a short-term
boys' youth dance group in the Yorkshire mining town of Castleford to
ten years later being a successful dance organisation with a proven track
record and reputation for quality professional dance performance, award-winning
youth dance provision and extensive dance in education services.
